The Washington State Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service was held on June 5, 2016 at the Washington State Capital, in Olympia. This year we honored eight Fallen Firefighters. Three of these men were killed in the Twisp Fire incident during the Okanogan Complex Fire. The families and loved ones of the fallen firefighters gathered, along with hundreds of friends and firefighters to celebrate their lives and honor their ultimate of sacrifice in the line of duty.
Chaplain Crutchfield opened the ceremony by giving the invocation. Additionally, Chaplain Crutchfield gave a short presentation on the purpose of chaplains to First Responders and their specific role at the fire camps. He then lead the Moment of Silence, followed by the Firefighters Prayer. The bagpipes then played “Amazing Grace”.
